Atlatszo: "The coming dark age of democratic governance in Hungary"

"A recent amendment to the law on freedom of information all but ensures that the Government operates in complete darkness," says pro-transparency investigative reporting NGO, Atlatszo. The group joins four other organizations that are protesting an amendment fast-tracked through the Hungarian Parliament last week that imposes unprecedented new restrictions on access to information in Hungary, including data on expenditures by state bodies.  According to Atlatzso, the measure poses serious restrictions on the public's right to know and on the media's watchdog role.
