Position Description
The School of Public Policy (SPP) at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest was launched in 2011 and will welcome its second class of graduate students this fall.  We seek a Visiting Faculty on Journalism, Political Communication and Policy Development with a focus on the role of journalists and media industries in the development and implementation of public policy. 

We seek an engaging instructor with experience using information technologies in pedagogy to teach a group of students committed to improving public policy worldwide. There is also the possibility of having the opportunity to teach a second course on a topic of interest to the candidate, but this will depend on the candidates expertise, student interest, and other factors.  The ability to teach a graduate level course on journalism, political communication and policy development is the core competence we seek.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach minimum of 2, maximum of 4 credits in the Spring semester (April-June, 2015).

The ideal candidates will:

• Have outstanding academic credentials (Ph.D. and/or equivalent and a well-recognized publications record reflective of rank);
• Exhibit a passion for teaching and an openness to employ innovative teaching methods;
• Either have experience teaching related classes, have a syllabus on these topics already in hand, or be able to demonstrate enough expertise to develop the pedagogical materials in time for offering them in Spring 2015 in Budapest;
• Be able to connect the substantive readings or case studies in these courses to the other areas of concentration at SPP: global and/or regional governance, human security, sustainable development, media and communication, energy and environment, and/or human rights and humanitarian response;
• Contribute to the intellectual community around the Center for  Media, Data and Society and School of Public Policy during the period of time in Budapest.

Compensation
