Sejal Parmar at OSCE Chairmanship Conference on Tolerance and Diversity in Berlin

Sejal Parmar participated in the OSCE Chairmanship Conference on Tolerance and Diversity that took place at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany in Berlin on Thursday 20 October 2016.

Parmar spoke at the closing plenary session of the conference as rapporteur of Panel II on “Tolerance and Freedom of Speech: Countering ‘Hate Speech’ and Combating Discrimination on the Internet” which featured: Dunja Mijatović, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media; Ross LaJeunesse, Global Head of International Relations, Google Inc.; Iman Abou Atta, Deputy Director and Head, Middle East and North Africa Programmes, Faith Matters; Anne Brasseur, Ambassador of the No Hate Speech Movement; Christian Lang, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection of Germany; and Britta Sophie Weck, communications consultant (moderator).

The opening session of the conference featured speeches from Frank Walter Steinmeier, the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, as well as Daniel Barenboim, General Music Director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin and Renan Demirkan, actress and author.
