Accountability Initiative for Reform Joins Media and Power Research Consortium
Accountability Initiative for Reform (AIR Foundation) is a Kazakhstani non-profit organization aimed at helping people to always have an access to honest information from all institutions of society, including government, business, media and non-profit sector. AIR Foundation builds open relationship among institutions and provides people with instruments for reform initiation through civic technologies, rigorous research, policy analysis and journalism. Its three main thematic directions are: 1) data for social good; 2) digital rights and freedoms; and 3) open institutions.
AIR Foundation has now joined the Media and Power Research Consortium, which consists of local as well as regional and international organizations. The consortium members are academic institutions (universities and research centers), NGOs, journalism networks and private foundations. What brings all these groups together is their interest in pursuing a set of common research and advocacy goals.
The Media Influence Matrix is run by CMDS through the consortium. The main goal of this project is to investigate the profound impact that rapid shifts in policy, funding and technology are having on journalism today. Each country report consists of three studies, covering politics and policy, journalism funding and technology.
