Student Call

The Center for Media, Data and Society (CMDS) is accepting applications for part-time, unpaid intern positions at its Budapest office and remotely to work on our ongoing research projects. We are looking for inquisitive students interested in investigating who’s who in media, politics and technology. They will work on the Media Influence Matrix, a comparative research project that CMDS launched in January 2017. The project is run by the Media & Power Consortium, a community of 40 partner organizations from all over the world. Selected interns will have the opportunity to contribute to the next chapters of the Indian report under the supervision of Professor Vibodh Parthasarathi.  

Main tasks include

• Collection of information and data about financial performance of companies, ownership of technology and media companies, influencers in governments and regulatory authorities
• Drafting and revising of reports
• Preparing and updating databases
• Arranging interviews with media and technology companies and policymakers
• Other tasks depending on current projects and events.

The research interns will be involved in the study of state funding and its influence in journalism in India. The responsibilities would include data gathering and analysis. They will be expected to study governmental and corporate documents, financial data, and industry reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and co-working online documents is required. 

Interns will gain experience in data and information collection, writing of analytical reports and policy recommendations and dissemination of research findings. At the same time, they will get acquainted with the operation of an international academic center.

The duration of the internship will be agreed upon with CMDS.
