Coyer on Online Violent Extremism and the Importance of Human Rights’ Frameworks
The international symposium “The intermediaries and their liability” was organized by the Faculty of Law at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest to bring together policy-makers, academics, NGOs and other stakeholders to talk about how to create a proper regulatory framework on the liability of intermediaries.
Kate Coyer, Research Affiliate with the Center for Media, Data and Society spoke about online violent extremism and the importance of human rights’ frameworks, in the panel “Let all flowers blossom? - Where are the limitations of freedom of expression in the online media sphere?”. The panel aimed to discuss the limitations of freedom of expression in the online media sphere, the role of governments, as well as where the states, private companies or communities should regulate their and each other’s conduct.
