Dragomir on Media in Central and Eastern Europe
Join the online discussion ‘Under Pressure’ on Thursday, where our Director, Marius Dragomir and three journalists will discuss the assaults on media freedom in the region.
Thirty years after the fall of communism, Eastern Europe is still struggling to build a strong and independent press. The lack of transparency of media ownership and business and political pressure, as well as smear campaigns against independent and investigative journalists who dare to expose corruption, are just some of the problems which have plagued the media landscape in the region for years.
The event “Under Pressure: Media in Central and Eastern Europe”, organized by The Association of European Journalists in Bulgaria, is an attempt to start a conversation about the assaults on media freedom in the region, and to look for potential solutions.
