Barata, Detrekői and Dragomir contribute to European Audiovisual Observatory Publication
CMDS Director Marius Dragomir and CMDS Fellows Joan Barata and Zsuzsa Detrekői contributed to a new publication of the European Audiovisual Observatory on national rules on video-sharing platforms. Dragomir collected the data on Romania, Barata on Spain and Detrekői on Hungary.
Video-sharing platforms were first subject to EU regulation only in 2018, in the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive with the goal of protecting users from harmful and illegal content. The deadline for member states to transpose the the rules applicable to video-sharing platforms into national laws was September 2020. The European Commission requested the European Audiovisual Observatory to prepare a mapping report on how the rules have been transposed into national legal frameworks.
In addition to the detailed country profiles, the report includes a comparative pan-European analysis, reflecting the state of play as of May 2021.
