Francesca Fanucci
Francesca Fanucci is an Italian and British lawyer specialised in freedom of expression and comparative media law. She is a member of Internews' Internet Freedom Expert Register and has consulted, inter alia, for the American Bar Association, ARTICLE 19, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression, the Open Society Foundations Justice Initiative and Media Program, the International Press Institute, Access Info Europe and International Media Support and is regularly invited by the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the University of Oxford, UK, as a senior judge at the annual International Rounds of the Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition. She currently serves as Senior Legal Advisor at the European Center For Not-For-Profit Law (ECNL), where she mostly works on projects at the UN, Council of Europe and EU level aimed at developing standards and regulatory frameworks addressing the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence on civic freedoms. Francesca also represents the Council of Europe (CoE) Conference of International NGOs as a member participant in the CoE Ad Hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAHAI), which is tasked with preparing potential elements for a legal framework for the development, design and application of artificial intelligence based on the CoE’s standards on human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
