Monroe Price on CEU, Media Studies and the Concept of Open Society
In this episode of the Media and Change Podcast Series, Eva Bognar is interviewing Monroe Price on the foundation of our Center, on the role of CEU in the region and internationally, and the concept of open society. He emphasizes the importance of including the notion of power in our thinking about open societies and discusses the significance of media studies at Central European University.
Monroe Price is an Adjunct Full Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication, and Professor of Law at the Cardozo School of Law. He is also a member of CMDS' advisory board. He has published essential and widely influential research in international communications studies and policy analysis in various contexts. Besides major theoretical contributions such as the enabling environment for free and independent media and the concept of global market for loyalties, he also published on memory and information intervention in Bosnia-Herzegovina; on the making of state media policy in Iraq; and on global civil society and the Beijing Olympics, just to mention a few.
