Publications
The research community of faculty, staff, visiting fellows and research collaborators have actively disseminate our findings.
We publish books both individually and through a dedicated series with CEU Press. Several of our conferences and workshops have resulted in edited collections. They include a series of books that resulted from the collaborative research network East of West: Setting a New Central and Eastern European Media Research Agenda, which was coordinated by the CMDS. Titles include Media, Nationalism and European Identities, Media Freedom and Pluralism - Media Policy Challenges in the Enlarged Europe, and Finding the Right Place on the Map: Central and Eastern European Media Change in a Global Perspective.
Our research also goes into research briefs, white papers, and other publications directed at a wide audience of policy makers, journalists, and the interested public. This includes reports that were part of the European Privacy and Human Rights project and INDIREG project, which resulted in in-depth, wide-ranging studies and journal articles. The CMDS is also one of the publishers of the EastBound journal.
The faculty, staff and fellows of the Center each conduct research in their own fields of expertise, whether it is media regulation and governance, community media, or freedom of expression and information. The CMDS has also hosted a range of talented research fellows who used their time at the Center to conduct and publish research on some of the most topical issues in media and communication. This list showcases the books, book chapters, journal articles and other publications of CMDS members.
