The Digital Future Looks Bright! – Business Implications of the Internet Of Things For Hungarian Companies: Media and Change Series
As an umbrella term, Internet of Things (IoT) is considered a future computing scenario where physical objects can be connected to the Internet and thus they can be identified by other devices. However, despite its increasing usage, Internet of Things is still considered a relatively new phenomenon, and interestingly there is quite a bit of variation across different social as well as business conceptualizations. By building on the theory of socio-technical systems, researchers argue that the initial scope of the Internet of Things should be expanded beyond its technical applications, and be treated as a part of a complex socio-technical system that enables social and technical entities to interact with each other in a unique way. The lecture will present current research on the topic conducted by Peter Nagy and Gina Neff in Hungary.
Peter Nagy is a Ph.D candidate in Consumer Behavior at Corvinus University of Budapest. His current research examines the role the Internet of Things plays in civic life. During his residency at Central European University, Peter focuses on the social implications of human-technology interaction with particular attention to the ways the Internet of Things affects individuals.
